Community Medical Services is a rapidly growing company with room for advancement. We currently have several locations in four states that provide substance use disorder and behavioral services in the form of counseling and medication assisted treatment to clients with opioid use disorder.

As a Nurse with Community Medical Services you are responsible for administering medication to patients under the guidance of the Medical Director and the Director of Medical Services, assisting with telemedicine physical examinations, blood tests, UA and other required test. The nurse is responsible for accurate accounting of all medication and to maintain accurate documentation and reports related to dosing, dispensing, storage and ordering of medication.

HOURS: 5 - 10 AM, Sat. 6 - 9 AM & Federal Holidays 6 - 9 AM

 

NURSE ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Dispenses prescribed medication to patients in treatment program, paying special attention to behavioral patterns, medical symptoms, physical symptoms related to dosage, and other symptoms related to drug usage and mental health concerns.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper patient records: client drug screen profile, physician orders, daily dosing sheets, nurse's notes, accountability of medication, daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly reports.  Responsible for documentation of medical and clinical records and observations; record keeping regarding methadone inventory and control. Works in close coordination with other treatment team members to implement appropriate treatment regimens for clients. Documents medication errors and respond to adverse medical reactions per company policy
  • Responsible for the preparation of take-home medication under the guidance of the Director of Medical Services and the Medical Director.
  • Assists with routine physicals, blood draws, urine analysis collection, oral swabs, checking vital signs. Must be prepared to administer CPR when needed. Is responsible for methadone inventory and ordering of medication.
  • Assists Nursing Manager and/or Nursing Operations Director with overall nursing needs of all assigned CMS locations, including projects, assignments and required changes related to nursing requirements as needed according to State, CARF, DEA and accreditation/licensure requirements. Monitors nursing and pharmacy reports, dosing logs, inventory documentation at all locations. Implements and trains nursing staff related to updates and changes in nursing protocol and individual training needs at each location.
  • Responsible for ordering all supplies needed, assisting in ordering medication, arranging for temporary transfers of patients. May need to interface with governing authorities when making routine audits. Meets work attendance requirements, meets attendance for staff meetings
  • Responsible for engaging in community outreach, as necessary, to educate the community on medication assisted treatment and assist in increasing referrals for individuals to obtain appropriate services.

NURSE COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to observe and care for patients and knowledge of signs of intoxication and withdrawal symptoms.
  • Demonstrates accuracy in medication administration and ability to keep accurate files
  • Ability to travel- including out of town as needed for medication delivery and nursing coverage and/or assistance as needed
  • Participates in continuing education/other job related training
  • Adheres to and enforces company policies
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Federal and state regulation as well as accreditation and clinic policy.

 

NURSE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed LPN, or RN in the state where they are employed by Community Medical Services
  • Experience in the field of drug abuse is preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer knowledge is necessary.
